My Cult Beauty Edits
I am so excited to introduce my first EVER collab with Cult Beauty: two curated beauty boxes, full of formulas I love. Lemme tell you, this isn’t something I do often. I last made an edit with a brand over five years ago. I’m very fussy, you see, and I always want the best products with the very best value for you guys. And these babies are filled with products I really trust, created by fellow makeup artists. Because, in my opinion, the absolute best brands in the biz are created by the experts. These products are all staples in my professional and personal kits. So, let me tell you a little about what’s in each! But firstly, here’s the top line.
A box that will become a staple in your everyday makeup routine. Products you can rely on day in, day out.
Oh, lemme tell you, this was the first product I insisted on having in my edits. Not only is Kevyn an icon of the makeup industry, I’ve also studied his work throughout my entire career. He is truly iconic, and that’s why these eyelash curlers are the best. Just trust me on this. And if these will make you use lash curlers for the first time you’re welcome! You’ll never look back. Just clasp your lashes in between the curlers and pump a few times (make sure you do the same amount of pumps on each side), then get ready for the lift no mascara required.
Charlotte Tilbury needs no introduction, darling. She’s an instantly recognisable industry titan, known for her flowing copper locks and penchant for glowing skin. Not to mention creating one of the UK’s best-selling moisturisers, Charlotte’s Magic Cream.
I wanted to include a multi-use blush and lip colour that gives you that just kissed, just walked in from a chilly walk look. And Charlotte’s invention gives you just that. Delivering vitamin-rich, luxurious lustre to your lips and cheeks, the Pillow Talk Lip and Cheek glow is the perfect multi-use make up secret for a radiant flush of colour. Pat on the apples of the cheeks and the centre of your lips with your ring finger.
As a brand with multiple viral, trusted formulas, it feels like Laura Mercier has been around forever. But Laura only launched her eponymous brand about thirty years ago, building on her experience as an editorial and celebrity makeup artist in Paris.
Now, it’s trusted all around the world, having proven itself as the go-to brand for effortless, chic, Parisian-inspired looks. In fact, the Caviar Stick makes light work of an entire eye. It’s stylish and convenient, easy to use and long-lasting; you can quickly and easily blend one or more shades over the lid to create a quick smoky eye, simple tight-line, or sharp feline flick. Literally just windscreen-wipe it over your eyelid and blend. You can’t go wrong.
I’ve been banging on about this product since it was in a round pot! I was thrilled when Anastasia Beverley Hills, who’s literally known as “the queen of brows,” brought it out in this amazing tube form. It was only a matter of time, really. She is, after all, credited with pioneering the common brow techniques often used on celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez.
Anyway, Brow Freeze fixes even the most wayward arches with a feathery effect. The transparent styling wax works to reveal perfectly shaped, full-bodied brows, all without leaving a stiff, crunchy feeling. Not only this, but the residue and flake-free formula is a must for mess-free, easy application. The clear finish makes it suitable for all skin tones and brow colours, too. I like to brush against the direction of the hairs first to get the product into the roots, and then I brush them back in the right direction to set them all in place. I also love to brush the front up slightly for a feathered look. If you always use brow pencil first, try setting your brows first instead, and then applying your brow pencil. Just trust me.
Rihanna also needs no introduction. Fine, she’s not a makeup artist per se, but she’s in the makeup chair with professionals most days, and she knows a thing or two about making make-up last through long, sweaty performances. She was also one of the first beauty brand founders to really champion an inclusive shade range, which sparked a much-needed shakeup of the industry.
Plus, how many times have I told you this is my favourite lip gloss? It’s just sooo good: super shiny, not sticky, and it’s in the perfect colour. Just chuck it on for instant perfection.
Highlighter is the makeup artist’s secret to giving that healthy glow, and this is one of the best. It’s not like the sparkly, chalky highlighters of 2016; after all, Gucci Westman is known for her less-is-more approach, championing minimalism and natural finishes since before the “clean girl” was even a thing.
This Highlight Stick comes in a gel-like texture that effortlessly melts into skin, and the multidimensional undertones deliver a glossy, reflective finish. And it’s so easy to use! Just apply it to your cheekbones and down your nose, then blend with your fingers. It also looks incredible on the eyelids and on the centre of your lips. Oh, and don’t forget your décolletage and your shins when wearing an outfit that shows those areas off!
You can use these products during the night or day, but they’re exceptionally brilliant at really amping up your average look. Here’s why…
I use this most days. It does a multitude of things: it refreshes skin, moisturises and contains light-reflecting particles to impart a gorgeous glow. It also contains calming extracts of cucumber and chamomile, as well as antioxidant-rich green tea and vitamin E, and even a burst of revitalising caffeine. It’s the brainchild of celebrity makeup artist Jade Elliott, who worked in the fashion and beauty industry for 15 years before launching Iconic London.
I love to use it a few minutes before doing my makeup, and then at the very end to set it in place and add a healthy glow. Shake it before you use it to combine the highlighter with the liquid. It’s like a disco snow globe – mesmerising!
This brand is a makeup artist’s go-to for so many reasons. It just performs so well, even in demanding scenarios. This is exactly what the brand was designed to do, after the founder and French artist (of both the paint and makeup variety) spotted a gaping hole in the market for versatile, high-performance, professional-grade formulas in 1984.
The brand’s artist collection is one of my faves, so I just had to include it. This crayon can be used anywhere and everywhere, from your cheeks to your eyes to your lips. The pigment is amazing, the blend is perfect, and the staying power is exceptional. Experiment with this product and let your inner artist come out to play.
I’ve been lucky enough to know Danessa for over ten years. She is a remarkable artist. Did you know that she created the Benefit Brow Collection?! Yup, it’s true! She then went on to make her own brand, and it is truly one of the best.
I obvs had to include some shimmer in this kit, and this Danessa Myricks formula offers just that, and then some. It’s a multi-use pearl pigment stick made to customise your lips, eyes and cheeks featuring two light-reflective finishes: metallic and foil. The versatile formula allows for optimum freedom to express yourself. Glide it onto whatever area you want, and blend. I love it all over the lid. Use the foil first, then the shimmer.
Have you noticed that there are quite a few multi-use products within the two boxes? That’s because I wanted you guys to become your own artists. Makeup is supposed to be fun! On set, we mix and match products in unconventional ways all the time.
This pencil is no exception. It makes for the most wonderful lip liner, eyeliner or even blush. Try it on all three for a matchy makeup look. The shade is just stunning, and I love the brand ethos: 19/99 was founded by Camille Katona and Stephanie Spence in 2020. Together, they wanted to use their expertise in the industry to challenge outdated beauty norms, settling on 19/99 – a brand made for everyone, whether they’re 19 or 99 years of age.
Having a NARS product in this collection was non-negotiable. I’ve loved and used this brand since the start of my career. François Nars is like the Karl Lagerfeld of beauty; everyone knows his name, and everyone loves his creations. He’s worked countless fashion shows and for brands like Vogue, and he isn’t afraid to push boundaries (cough, Orgasm blush, cough).
So, as expected, these lip pencils are fantastic. You can use them to create a diffused lip (just blend with a fluffy brush), or as a full-on, intense lip. American Woman is a shade I reach for time and time again; it’s the perfect dusty rose. Also, once on, these pencils do not move. Try pairing one with the Fenty gloss bomb if you can get your hands on both edits.
Jamie Genevieve… what a diamond. J is exactly as you see on socials, in real life. Her brand, Vieve, is one of those special brands with heart and personality. And, if I had to pick, Skin Dew is my favourite formula of the lot. It is so versatile, and it delivers a glossy veil wherever you put it: under makeup, on top, on your cheekbones, mixed with body moisturiser, on your legs, you name it. It gives a golden glow and is packed with skin-caring ingredients. It’s a backstage must for me.
Aimee has created a brand based on the five-minute face and, seriously, that’s what you can create with any of her products. She is an absolutely amazing woman. She’s not only talented and kind, she’s also resilient and strong.
I always knew I wanted a mascara in this edit and this is a reliable go-to for me; it lifts and separates your lashes in a feathery “Omg wow your eyes look so good!” kinda way, and it works beautifully on all types of lashes.
I’m so proud of these edits, and I hope you love them as much as I do. They should serve you well for all occasions, collating all the expertise of people I admire, and bringing it into your very own home. Let me know how these boxes treat you, and if you want to see more edits like this in the future, let me know. But, most importantly, remember to just have FUN! Ignore the rules and unleash your inner makeup artist!
Love,
Lisa xx
