Lazy Girl Makeup

Let’s be honest, there are days when you simply cannot. Whether it’s because you’re juggling a ridiculous work day, kids on summer holidays, a hangover from the night before (we’ve all been there), or you’re just too blooming tired to care, makeup can feel like a marathon. And that’s OK. This routine is your fast pass to fresh, radiant skin with minimal effort and maximum payoff.

Skincare:

Ok, you might be asking “But Lis, you said makeup!” but yes, I did – trust me, skincare really is the queen of your routine. But if you’re in full-on “lazy girl” mode, don’t skip it altogether. The absolute bare minimum? A rich moisturiser, a decent SPF, and a hydrating lip balm. These three things will keep you hydrated and protected and act as the perfect base for everything else. When you’re tired your hydration is zapped so try a rich moisturiser. Here are three amazing ones:

Dr Sam’s | Flawless Moisturiser Intense

Soothing, hydrating and sinks in like a dream. This helps repair your barrier and leaves skin feeling plump and calm. I love this when my skin is acting up (i.e. most Mondays!).

Will I ever shut up about Weleda Skin Food?! The answer is no. She’s thick. She’s hydrating. And she smells like a spa in a tube. Slather this on like you’re icing a cake and thank me later. Also, put some on your hands, elbows and even your cheeks for a natural highlight. Honestly, you need to try this to know how good it is.

Created by the skincare queen Caroline Hirons. Luxury meets functionality. Fragrance-free and full of skin-loving ingredients – like ceramides, peptides and squalane.

Right, makeup

If I had to choose between foundation and concealer, I’d sack off foundation every time. A good concealer in the right places can completely transform your face. Pop a bit under the eyes, around your nose, on your chin, and between your brows. These are the magic zones for brightening and lifting the whole face. It’s giving “I slept eight hours” even when you didn’t because you stayed up watching Harry Potter for the millionth time… #HarryPotterAndTheHalfBlendedConcealer (is this hilarious or am I sleep deprived?!).

Brows:

I swear you just look neater if you groom your brows. Even a brow gel will do. Pro tip: brush against the hair first, then back with it – this coats every single hair and locks it in place. Neat, tidy, done.

My Fave Tinted Brow Gels

Benefit | Gimme Brow +

This tiny brush gives volume, colour and hold in seconds. It feels like a hair extensions for your brows – makes them look so full!

This gives that laminated look without the salon appointment. The formula grips like a dream and does not budge until you take it off. Just be careful to remove gently with some warm water and an oil-based cleanser afterwards.

Cult classic for a reason. Thickens, shapes and softens your brows without adding that weird crunchy feeling! Perfect for a no makeup vibe.

With this, I swear, your brows will not move. I’ve worn this to the gym, festivals, on the Northern line, and even the sauna!

Waterproof, sweatproof, emotion-proof. Great for that polished feeling but with zero stickiness.

Budget-friendly, high hold. You’ve heard me talk about this before. It is absolutely the best clear brow gel for this price point.

Ok, another one where your brows aren’t going anywhere. This does not mess around. I keep this in every kit bag as it’s so easy to sweep on. And bonus, you can use it for your flyaway hairs too…

Bronze & Blush:

Putting these categories together as these are multi-tasking marvels. Honestly, if you’ve got these two, you’ve got everything.

Bronzer is not only the ultimate product to give you a healthy glow, but also perfect to use as an eyeshadow. The speediest way to apply your bronzer is in a figure of three either side of your face and then just sweep it down the sides of your neck and over the eyelids. Job done.

So maybe, I’m feeling a little lazy today, and instead of listing out a load of bronzers, I’m going to send you to my ultimate bronzer blog post for everything you ever need to know! The Best Cream & Powder Bronzers

Blushers:

If I could only do two things on a no-effort day, I’d pat on cream blush and brush up my brows. It instantly lifts your face and gives you life. Dab onto the apples of your cheeks and blend upwards. Then use the same product on your lips for a matchy-matchy glow. Finish with a slick of lip balm and rub a little between your fingers to tap onto your cheekbones as a natural highlight. Easy but fab.

Bobbi Brown | Pot Rouge For Lips & Cheeks

Creamy, pigmented and lasts forever. This is often part of my train makeup routine because it is so easy to sweep on without a mirror… but thank god for BB as they’ve given us one in the lid.

Another handbag hero! Twist it up with no brush needed just blend straight away with your fingers. The finish is so glowy and the colours are flattering on all skin tones. I’ve been loving Werk this summer!

This is sheer and glowy without too much shine. Honestly, this gives “I just went to Pilates at 6AM and YES I’ve got my life together” even when you show up to the office 5 minutes late, iced coffee in hand because you overslept… oops. Persimmon is my current favourite shade as it looks 10/10 with a bit of a tan.

Voilà!

Makeup done in minutes.

This is a routine that works whether you’re running late, hungover, wiped out or simply in the mood for minimal. Because “lazy” doesn’t mean lesser it just means efficient, strategic and totally in control (wow, I feel like I need to write this on my bathroom mirror?!). So give yourself a break, you’re doing your best! Don’t forget – some days, less really is more.

Love,

Lisa xx
