Marc Jacobs Beauty Is Back And My Inner Beauty Counter Girl Is Screaming
When I heard Marc Jacobs Beauty was making a comeback, I genuinely gasped.
If you know, you know. The original Marc Jacobs Beauty wasn't just another celebrity-adjacent makeup line sitting on a shelf looking pretty. It was innovative, fun, luxurious and packed with products that beauty lovers genuinely obsessed over. When it disappeared, it left a hole in my makeup bag that no amount of "clean girl" beige could ever quite fill.
And let's talk about At Lash'd Mascara for a second. I sold and you bought so much of that mascara back in the day that I'm fairly certain we single-handedly funded at least one Marc Jacobs holiday party haaa!
So when I was invited to preview the relaunch, I couldn't wait to see whether the new collection would live up to the magic of the original. Right now, in the UK, it’s exclusive to Selfridges, which makes perfect sense for Marc IMO. Both have built their reputations on turning shopping into an experience, championing creativity over convention, and creating the kind of cult moments people still talk about years later.
First impressions? The packaging is absolutely stunning.
Marc Jacobs has always understood that makeup should feel joyful, and this collection delivers exactly that. Every product feels like a collectable piece rather than something you'll shove to the bottom of a drawer. The playful charms, metallic finishes and distinctive shapes bring back that sense of excitement that feels missing from so much of today's beauty landscape. The daisy motifs for complexion, stars for eyes and hearts for lips are instantly recognisable and unmistakably Marc. They're fun, luxurious and completely unapologetic.
Now let's get into the products.
A good eyeliner can make or break a collection, and this one looks incredibly promising If you were a fan of the original Highliner pencils, prepare to be very happy. These glide on with almost no effort, giving you enough time to smudge and play before they set. Once they're on, they're on. I've worn them through long days, hot weather and the usual face-touching habits, and they barely budged.
What excites me most is the shade range. From classic blacks and browns to metallic emeralds, electric blues and duochrome lilacs, this isn't a collection designed for people who want to play it safe. It's playful, creative and feels very true to the Marc Jacobs spirit.
The star-topped packaging is also ridiculously cute.
My Verdict: Drawn This Way Eyeliner
First Impression: ★★★★★
Most Excited To Try: No Cap (Emerald Duochrome)
Who It's For: Anyone bored of basic black liner.
Would I Buy It? Yes. The shade range alone has me reaching for my credit card.
If there's one product that feels like the star of the collection (pun absolutely intended), it's Born Star Eyeshadow.
This might actually be my favourite product in the collection. The texture is unlike most cream shadows I've tried, bouncy, buttery and incredibly easy to blend. You can create a wash of colour in seconds or build it up for something much bolder, promising intense colour payoff without the fuss. The compact itself deserves its own moment because it's shaped like a star and features a swivel opening mechanism that feels more fashion accessory than makeup product.
The shade range strikes a great balance between wearable matte neutrals and those unexpected metallic pops of colour that Marc Jacobs has always done so well.
My Verdict: Born Star Eyeshadow
First Impression: ★★★★★
Most Excited To Try: Zero Chill
Who It's For: Makeup lovers who want colour without sacrificing ease of application.
Would I Buy It? Absolutely. The star compact has already won me over.
As someone who still hasn't emotionally recovered from losing At Lash'd Mascara (why they didn’t just bring the brush and formula back in new packaging, I dunno), this was the product I was most curious about.
Flashes Mascara promises panoramic volume, vibrant pigment and a clump-free finish with up to 18 hours of wear. The hourglass brush looks designed to really grab every lash, and I love that they've included brown and electric blue options alongside the classic black.
The good news? Flashes is genuinely lovely. It gives fluffy, separated volume rather than thick, heavy drama and doesn't flake throughout the day. Is it At Lash'd? No. But is it a worthy new chapter? Absolutely.
My Verdict: Flashes Mascara
First Impression: ★★★★☆
Most Excited To Try: Indigo
Who It's For: Anyone who misses the drama of a proper mascara.
Would I Buy It? Yes, but I'm approaching cautiously because At Lash'd set the bar ridiculously high.
Can It Replace At Lash'd? Jury's out. I'll report back
Cream blush lovers, this one's for you.
Joystick Blush Stick is a multi-use balm for both cheeks and lips, designed to melt into the skin before setting into a soft powder finish. I love products that can be thrown into a handbag and applied without needing a full makeup kit. It’s incredibly easy to use, blends beautifully with fingers and gives that fresh, healthy flush that looks like you've just come back from a walk rather than applied makeup. I found myself reaching for it far more than I expected.
The shade range is particularly strong, ranging from soft nudes through to vibrant lilacs and deep plums. The daisy charm packaging makes it feel playful while still looking chic.
My Verdict: Joystick Blush Stick
First Impression: ★★★★★
Most Excited To Try: Pink Kink
Who It's For: People who want effortless, healthy-looking colour.
Would I Buy It? 100%. A cream blush that doubles as a lip product is always a winner in my book.
The name alone deserves an award.
Legally Bronze is designed to work both as a soft bronzer and a sculpting powder, making it one of the most versatile complexion products in the collection.
The texture is what stood out to me here. It's finely milled, blends effortlessly and never looks muddy. Whether you want a subtle warmth or a more sculpted look, it manages both without looking obvious on the skin.
My Verdict: Legally Bronze Bronzer
First Impression: ★★★★☆
Most Excited To Try: Shade 25
Who It's For: Anyone looking for a bronzer that can bronze and sculpt.
Would I Buy It? Yes. Plus, "Legally Bronze" might be one of the best beauty product names I've heard in years.
I wasn't sure about this one when I first saw the blue-toned gel, but once it hits the skin, it transforms into the most beautiful multidimensional glow. Think less glitter disco ball and more expensive editorial skin.
Rather than a traditional powder or liquid highlighter, Money Shot is a water-based jelly formula designed to create a multidimensional glow across both face and body.
The blue base with pink holographic reflections is beautifully futuristic and very different from the champagne highlighters that dominate the market. If you're someone who likes your glow to make a statement, this could be the sleeper hit of the collection.
My Verdict: Money Shot Highlighter Gel
First Impression: ★★★★☆
Most Excited To Try: 001
Who It's For: Glow lovers who think subtle is overrated.
Would I Buy It? Yes, especially for summer skin and body highlighting.
The lipstick lover in me is obsessed already. If you love a lipstick that feels like a balm, you'll probably fall for these. They glide on effortlessly, feel comfortable throughout the day and leave lips looking healthy and juicy rather than dry or overly glossy. I've already got a few shades earmarked for my handbag.
The shade range is genuinely impressive. From wearable nudes to statement reds, bright pinks and electric purples, there's something for every mood. The addition of cherry oil, peptides and hyaluronic acid makes it the kind of lipstick you'll actually want to wear all day.
My Verdict: Heart On Lipstick
First Impression: ★★★★★
Most Excited To Try: Lips Don't Lie
Who It's For: Anyone who wants colour without sacrificing comfort.
Would I Buy It? Instantly. The heart-shaped packaging is adorable and the skincare-infused formula sounds gorgeous.
Final Thoughts
What I love most about this relaunch is that it doesn't feel like Marc Jacobs Beauty is trying to fit into what's currently trending. Instead, it feels like a return to something beauty has been missing: joy.
In a world of minimalist packaging, neutral palettes and products designed to make you look like you're wearing no makeup, Marc Jacobs Beauty is reminding us that makeup can be fun. It can be expressive. It can be bold. It can make you smile when you pull it out of your handbag.
And honestly? That's exactly what made us fall in love with the brand in the first place.
Welcome back, Marc Jacobs Beauty. You've been missed.
Ps: At Lash’d would look gorgeous with a daisy on her ;)
Love, Lisa xx
