5 Beauty Products, Fashion Finds & Homeware Favourites I Loved in August 2026
This August I’ve been obsessing over all sorts of odd little treasures: a comb, a scent, a switch (of all things!). That's sort of the joy of a “favourites” round-up though, isn't it? It's never really about the "must-haves," it's about the odd little things that really bring you joy. With this in mind, here's what's caught my eager eyes this month in the worlds of beauty, fashion and homeware. It’s eclectic and whacky but sure to put a smile on your face.
I know, I know… a frying pan as a favourite? But hear me out: I have become weirdly excited about good kitchenware, and the Always Pan from Our Place is exactly the sort of thing I want sitting on my hob. It’s practical, beautiful and does the job of multiple pans, which is particularly appealing if you hate having a million things cluttering up the kitchen. (Or the washing-up pile!) Basically, it makes cooking feel a little more chic. And I’m here for that. Plus, it’s pretty huge, which is great for hosting.
I have a thing about switches. There, I said it. Cue the judgement. The thing is, an ugly light switch can completely ruin an otherwise lovely room. This blush version with a gold rocker, on the other hand, makes even the smallest details feel considered. Suddenly, a normal room feels worthy of a hotel. Good switches are one of those little home upgrades that takes about five minutes but makes a surprisingly big difference.
This vase is basically a piece of art disguised as a vase. The colours are gorgeous and slightly bonkers in exactly the way I like my interiors to be. I’m increasingly drawn to objects that don’t look overly 'perfect' or matchy-matchy. Give me something colourful, a bit weird and with loads of personality over another beige pot any day. Also, this is made of acrylic so it doesn’t make sense for a vase at all but it totally somehow works. Imagine it with a bunch of scraggly wild flowers of all heights!
My friend Laura introduced me to the work of Finnish artist Maisa Majakka and I immediately became obsessed with her ceramic horses. They are just so beautiful as well as playful, colourful and full of character. I haven't managed to get my hands on one of these babies yet because they sell out in seconds, but I'm on the waitlist for the next drop, so my fingers are crossed!
I mean, look at it. Stripes, ruffles and the sort of slightly frivolous prettiness that makes a sofa, garden chair or outdoor space look instantly more fun. I feel like these cushions would look beautiful next to the Potter pool, am I right or am I right?!?!
There are some fragrances you like, and then there are the fragrances that make you sniff your wrist every five seconds. For me, Balenciaga 100 is firmly the latter. It feels modern, sexy and a little bit unexpected rather than being another generic, “pretty” fragrance. I’ve been reaching for it a lot lately – particularly when I want something that feels a little more grown-up and cool. It’s like a sexy rose. Basically: if you like your fragrances to have a bit of an attitude, give this one a sniff (and then continue to sniff forever, because you simply won’t be able to stop…).
A comb might not sound like the most exciting beauty discovery, but this one is more like a piece of art: unusual and covered in a chic tortoiseshell pattern. On top of its unique look, it gives great precision and control, which is particularly handy when creating neat partings or updos.
Rare Beauty really knows how to make a lip product that feels effortless, and the Soft Pinch Lip Oil is no exception: it gives that lovely, juicy, softly stained look without feeling heavy. It’s perfect for days when I want my makeup to look polished but still very much like “me”.
An oldie but a goldie, and one of those products that makes me wonder: why does everyone not have this? By Terry’s Tea to Tan gives skin a gorgeous, healthy, holiday-ish glow (sans the actual holiday). It’s perfect for adding warmth and a bit of life when your skin looks flat, which is particularly exciting seeing as we’re (apparently) heading into cooler months.
This product is like pure magic, bottled. It gives you a locked-in matte finish like a powder, but in a water serum that also hydrates your skin. If you’re an oily girlie or get oily in areas, try this under your makeup. Just… wow!
I am obsessed with a phone chain at the moment. (Less obsessed with the reason that we all need them: London’s phone snatcher epidemic.) The Ossa New York ball chain iteration is particularly good because it feels more like a piece of jewellery than a practical phone accessory. Which, let's be honest, is exactly what I want. Hands-free and stylish? What a combo.
M&S collaborating with Aries is exactly the sort of fashion curveball I love. There are some great pieces in the collection, and I love that it brings that slightly grungier, cooler Aries aesthetic to somewhere you might not necessarily expect it. I’m all for high-low fashion, and this is a very good example of why designer collaborations can be so much fun.
This dress is giving me cool-girl-with-somewhere-to-be vibes. The asymmetric neckline, washed black denim and mini length make it feel sexy without being too try-hard, and I love anything that does all of the work with nothing but an added pair of boots or heels to match. Topshop continues to make a comeback, and I am paying attention.
I own this and I love it. It’s such a great shape and I love that it can be worn as a shirt or a jacket. It’s super cool and easy to wear with transeasonal outfits, too. I wear a size small, FYI.
I can’t stop thinking about this incredibly expensive jumper. During the day, in my dreams – it haunts me. The end.
And that's August wrapped, frying pan and all. As ever, this list is a mix of the practical, the pretty and the completely unnecessary. Which, if you ask me, is exactly the right ratio.
