My Favourite Christmas Films (that you must watch this festive season!)
So, you might have seen on my Instagram Stories this week, Mark and I had our annual tradition of sitting in bed for two days, watching back-to-back Christmas films all whilst drinking Champagne and eating pizza. Honestly? The perfect weekend activity. Zero regrets. 10/10 would recommend. So here it is, the full list of festive flicks that made us laugh, cry, and feel super festive!
Dolly Parton + Christmas = my dream film. This is the most heartwarming small-town Christmas story with Dolly’s sparkle everywhere. Pure festive joy in rhinestones. Trust me – you need to watch this!
This is everything great about a Netflix Rom-Com. Love, mix-ups, and (of course) Champagne. Cheesy but so good.
Every Lindsay Lohan Christmas Movie Ever Made
If you haven’t seen Falling for Christmas yet, what are you doing?! She is an icon, she is a legend, she IS the moment! Our little Secret was a new LiLo discovery for me this year but honestly, it’s just so good. Tell me why this one made me cry?!
Look you’ve just got to ignore IMDb/Rotten Tomatoes and trust me on this one. It has Broadway themes. Enough said.
Ok, that is my list of Netflix style movies and now: The Classics (because obviously).
Big nostalgia energy. This is the ultimate 80s Christmas magic you didn’t know you missed. Last year, my sisters told me they’d never seen this, so I immediately forced them to sit down and watch it – they loved it, obvs.
I’m dreaming of a… dancing, singing, snow. It’s Christmas wrapped in satin and sequins.
The blueprint of Christmas cinema. No matter how many times I see this film, I cry my heart out.
If you don’t quote this film daily in December, are you even festive? This film is just pure joy to me.
This hardly needs any introduction. Nostalgic, funny and one I watch multiple times in the festive season. Also, justice for Kevin.
Oh, so iconic. I love how this makes you wonder how intertwined our lives really are. I love everything about love, actually.
Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz. One house swap. Oh, and do not forget Jude Law being Jude Law. This makes me want to escape to a cottage!
A reminder to believe – in Christmas, in kindness, and in the magic of Macy’s.
Ok, technically I’m not sure that this is a “Christmas film” but it is December-coded. Pure John Candy joy.
Messy, emotional, funny, festive. This really is the ultimate depiction of chaotic family Christmas energy.
What is it about seeing your favourite actors in a Christmas film? This film is super funny. Why is everyone on Rotten Tomatoes being so Grinchy?! Again, ignore them and trust me.
So that is mine and Mark’s ultimate festive-watch list. Snuggle up with your bestie, your partner, or honestly just you on your own (the dream). And if you are anything like me, pop your dog next to you, grab an electric blanket, an ice-cold glass of Champagne and enjoy the magic.
I would ask you to give me your Christmas film suggestions, but I honestly feel like I’ve seen them all!
Love,
Lisa xx
